Who said great coffee had to be expensive? Not us! We believe specialty coffee should be accessible to everyone. Here are some of our top tips on how you can up your coffee game without blowing the budget:
● Experiment with brew method You don’t need an expensive coffee machine to enjoy great coffee at home. In fact, you canpick up a French press from Kmart for around $8 or a V60 for about $12 (plus filters) from Alternative Brewing. And you can make a bangin’ coffee with both of these! Whether it’s pour-over, Aeropress, syphon, cold-brew or something else entirely, experiment with different methods and find what works best for you.
● Subscriptions for freshly-roasted, local beans. Many roasters offer a subscription service. So not only can you have great tasting, freshlyroasted beans delivered to your door BUT these kinds of services usually come at a discounted price. Win win!
● GIY - Grind It Yourself
Grinding your own beans just before brewing is a great way to up your coffee game. However, if you’re not yet ready to invest in your own grinder (more on that in a minute) you can usually buy ground beans from your preferred local cafe or roaster. If you’re keen to try a bit of GIY, there’s loads of affordable manual grinders that are much cheaper than most electric models. Plus you get a sneaky arm workout too!
● Free education Most roasters will have tips such as brew ratios, ideal methods, recipes, and other cheeky
tricks of the trade, all on their website - for free! You’ll often find this sort of helpful info on the back of your preferred bag of beans, giving you a starting point for experimenting with getting your brew just right for you.
● Get outdoors Ever heard of the phenomenon where something tastes better when you’re on holidays? Why not pack up your gear, head to your favourite outdoor spot and enjoy your brew surrounded by nature? Or take a stroll around the garden while sipping your morning brew at home.
And that’s just some of the ways you can amp up your coffee experience on a budget!
